The Founder
My love for fly fishing began long before I realized how deeply it would shape my life. Inspired by my father’s passion for the sport and the timeless beauty of A River Runs Through It, I grew up fishing with a spinning rod and learning to appreciate the quiet rhythm of water. But it wasn’t until I picked up a fly rod as an adult that everything truly clicked. What started as curiosity quickly became a calling.
Around the same time that my passion for fly fishing blossomed, so did another chapter of my life: I married the love of my life—a man who is brilliant, supportive, adventurous… and far less passionate about fishing than I am. That contrast brought both clarity and challenge. I wanted to travel the world in search of iconic waters and extraordinary species, but I also wanted to share those journeys with him. It forced a question many anglers know well:
Do we go alone, go with others, or simply not go at all?
Instead of choosing between two things I loved, I began to imagine something different—a way to blend world-class fly fishing with meaningful travel experiences for everyone, anglers and non-anglers alike.
My own journeys have taken me to the Grand Cascapedia and the Miramichi in pursuit of Atlantic salmon, to the steelhead rivers of Washington and New York, to the storied waters of Montana, and to the rich tropical fisheries of Panama, Belize and the Bahamas. With every destination, I’ve met remarkable people, discovered new cultures, and experienced the transformative power of travel with someone by my side, even if they weren’t holding a rod.
Those experiences became the heart of Tailwater Travels.
Today, my goal is to curate boutique fly fishing journeys that welcome both the angler and the companion—trips that pair exceptional fishing windows with luxury, culture, cuisine, and authentic connection. I believe that exploration should never feel like a compromise, and that the best travel experiences are the ones you can share.
